It has occurred to me that there’s one thing I dread every day, and that is, the time to go home every evening. No, it’s not because I love my job so much that I never want to go home. I do like my job but that’s not the reason. It’s the security lock next to the front entrance. There’s a tiny metal button on the inside that looks like a doorbell. Every time anyone exits the building, he/she needs to press the metal button so the front door unlocks. It’s a security measure meant to keep unwanted people out.
Why do I dread that metal button? For whatever reason unknown to me, I get shocked every time I press that button. I’ve tried grounding myself by touching something else. I’ve tried pressing the button through my gloves. I’ve tried using my nose. I’ve tried everything and still, I get shocked. I don’t think anyone else gets shocked so I don’t understand why this happens only to me.
