Last week, the technical communications group hosted a welcome party for the developers and the project managers we work with. The special occasion was to welcome two new members that joined our team recently. Sadly, I was sick that day so I wasn’t at the party.

However, I had a lot of fun shopping for all the snacks the week before. We had a budget of 800 RMB (~$100 USD) to buy snacks. In the U.S., that probably won’t get you very much stuff, but here in China, it’s a different story. I went with two other technical writers to Metro, a Costco-like wholesale place about 15 minutes from the company. It’s a membership-only place to purchase bulk items. We filled two shopping carts full of snacks/drinks AND still had a little bit of money left! Too bad I didn’t have a camera at the time.

There were a lot of leftovers after the party, so the snacks are now sitting on the tech comm snack table! There’s been a lot of traffic in that area since, probably mostly me. :P
