For the first time since I started working at NI, I was the first to arrive at work this morning! It was an empty office and you know what time it was? It was 9:10!! It wasn’t until around 9:20ish when the rest of the people started trickling in. What a Monday morning! The whole city of Shanghai is completely covered in snow and slush. My usual 2 minutes walk out to the nearest taxi stand took twice as long because the ground was slushy, slippery, and yucky. At least I didn’t have to bike to work today. :) That was probably the reason why everyone was late. All the taxis and the cars on the road slowed down a lot!

At lunch, our usual 5 minutes walk to the canteen took twice as long. My non-water-proof shoes were completely soaked, and my socks and feet were drenched in freezing icy slush. I almost stepped into the semi-frozen pond had a colleague not pull me back to safety. It was a yucky day, but the nice part was we got to leave early at 3pm! Management wanted to ensure safety for all the employees as they go home. I took the company shuttle and headed out to Puxi to run some errands. Even at 3pm, the subway station was pretty packed. I can’t imagine what it would have been like around 6pm!
