AutoViewer is created by Airtight Interactive. This is a simple flash slideshow that you can generate using Picasa and the AutoViewer Picasa template. The free version has limited custom-features, but the AutoViewer Pro ($45USD) allows you to customize everything.

Review

Criteria Review Score
Design Autoviewer is a simple, flash slideshow. 8
Loading speed All the images are loaded initially, so it takes a while before you can view the slideshow. The more images in the album, the longer it takes to load the slideshow. However, once the images are loaded, you can view the images fairly quickly. 4
Number of clicks You can click the play button to auto-play or pause the slideshow. Click the left/right arrow to move between pictures. You also can navigate through image by using the left/right arrow on the keyboard. 8
Browsing efficiency This is a slideshow so you have to view the images from the beginning to the end. You cannot skip and jump to any images at will. The only good thing is that once the images are loaded, you can go through the slideshow fairly quickly. 4
Image size The image size is the size you set when you generate the slideshow from Picasa. The images in this demo are 800×600, so when viewed at full-size, the images cover most of the browser window. 7
Caption The captions appear on the top left of each image. The font style, size, and color look great on all the images. You also see the total number of images in the album as well as which image you’re viewing. 9
Customizable You can customize the background color, border color, and slideshow speed, but you cannot customize the caption placement and formatting in the free version. 6
Embed in blogs You can easily embed this slideshow in blog posts and websites by using the <iframe> tag. If you set the width to 100%, then the embedded slideshow will automatically adjust to whatever size of the window or section it’s located in. 10
Browser-friendly AutoViewer works well with both IE and Firefox. However, you need to have Adobe Flash Player installed in order to view this slideshow. 8
Downloadable images Even though this is a flash slideshow, you can open each image in a new window and save to your computer. –

Overall

Overall, AutoViewer is a nice, simple slideshow with a great design. This template is great for smaller-sized albums, like wedding highlights, in which you want people to view all the images. Moms and grandmas could just press the “play” button, sit back, and enjoy the slideshow.

7/10
