This is the “century of China.” China is making headlines everywhere (both good and not so good). While the economy is slowing down in the U.S. and many other countries, China is just getting started! Many companies and businesses are moving or relocating to China. More and more foreigners are moving to China as well, either because their companies are sending them there or because they want to be a part of the excitement.
When I first came to Shanghai in 2001, there weren’t that many foreigners in Shanghai. Seven years later, the number of foreigners and expatriates in Shanghai have at least doubled or tripled. It’s not that easy finding a decent (and well paying) job as it used to be. Foreigners have high salary expectations, but the job market in Shanghai/China is becoming more competitive. Foreigners are now competing with other foreigners, returnees (Chinese who went abroad to study but returned to China for work), and the rising number of local Chinese professionals with equivalent education/experience.
For those of you interested in being part of the “century of China”, here’s a list online job search websites to help you get started.
Good luck!
If you know of any other online resources for finding jobs in China, please let me know and I will add to this list.
