Here are ten tips and tricks for using Google search engine.
- Exact Phrase. Use quotations (”) around the keywords to search for the exact phrase.
- Synonyms. Use the tilde symbol (~) before the keyword to search for similar things.
- Type of Files. Use filetype:<enter file extension> to search for a particular type of files.
- Numerical Range. Use <number>…<number> to search within a numerical range.
- Exclude Keywords. Use (-) to exclude keywords that you don’t want.
- Movie Reviews. Use movie:<name of movie> or film:<name of movie> to search for movie reviews.
- Dictionary. Use define:<keyword> to look up the definition of a word in Google’s built-in dictionary.
- Conversion Tool. Use <number> <unit> in <different unit> to convert from one unit to another. Works for currency and measurements.
- Spell Checker. Use spell:<keyword> to check the spelling of a word you’re not sure how to spell.
- Links to a Site. Use link:<sitename> to check how many pages link a particular site.
