I was curious whether you think that WordPress is better than Blogger or Typepad and why?

Honestly, I haven’t tried Blogger or Typepad, but based on popularity, WordPress is by far the most popular blogging software. WordPress comes without any ads or banners. I think Blogger/Blogspot has that tiny banner at the top. I’m not sure about Typepad.
I’ve written many posts about WordPress on this blog. I find WordPress easy to use. You can have a simple or highly customized blog.
WordPress.com is hosted on the WordPress.com so you get URLs like “http://yourblog.wordpress.com”. Most WordPress users install WordPress software on their own domain and hosting (like http://www.shanghaitechwriter.com).
