Starting last week, Google’s Picasa Web Album has been blocked in China, adding to an already long list of websites blocked by the Great Firewall of China, including Twitter, Facebook, Blogger, WordPress.com, and YouTube.

Even though I can access all the blocked websites using Witopia’s personal VPN service, I use the Shashin plugin to display pictures and videos from my Picasa Web Album on my personal website. The “Random Photos” section on the sidebar, the Photo Gallery, as well as all the posts that contain albums and individual photos/videos are now broken for readers/viewers in China.

I was told that all these website will remain blocked until after the 60th anniversary of the National Day of the People’s Republic of China.

This sucks big time!
