I came across the article “The Making of the Petaminx” today and saw the ultimate geek toy, the dodecahedral version of the Rubik’s cube. The dodewhat? The do-de-ca-he-dral, a solid with twelve pentagonal faces! Each face of the dodecahedral has 4 slices and 101 stickers. That means the entire dodecahedral has 1,212 color stickers!

The Petaminx

Below is a video from YouTube of the Pentaminx. If you’re in China, use a YouTube proxy or personal VPN to access the video URL (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLyFqm4D9tI).

This is the one and only Pentaminx in the world. I don’t know if anyone, including the maker, knows how to solve the dodecahedral yet, but if anyone can, he/she wins the geek-of-the-century award.
