This is totally random, but I came across a link to the Barbie website where you can vote for Barbie’s next career. Among the five choices is a computer engineer! I’m disappointed that technical writer didn’t make the ballot, but I’m somewhat thrilled that the not-so-great-of-a-role model-for-girls doll finally got her head straightened and is considering a more professional career option! It’s funny because I just wrote a post this morning about being a woman in a male-dominated workplace (to be published in a few weeks). I think this is a great start for young girls to consider computer science as a career option.
